Siegfried Muktupāvel’s Farewell Broadcast on Latvian Radio: A Tribute to 15 Years of Excellent Broadcasting

The sonorous voice of Siegfried Muktupāvel has delighted the listeners of Latvian Radio for more than 15 years. Today, Siegfried experienced his last broadcast of the program “Kulturas Rondo”, and we thank him from the bottom of our hearts for excellent broadcasts over many years!

For Siegfried Muktupável, this day’s program is unusual, and he does not hide that he is no less worried than when there was the first program, which he remembers vividly.

On the other hand, Gustavs Terzens reveals that he has been thinking about the job offer for a while. “When the twists of fate offer me to come here, I have enormous respect. The challenge, to be honest, is that my knees are shaking,” Gustav Terzen does not hide. “My mother, an editor at “Latvijas Avize” with a huge seniority, as I like to say about my parents – journalists with a capital Z -, she said: that’s all, boy, it’s enough for you to run around in shorts, this is serious.”

“This is acute and positive stress, which is good for my immune system, and I’m experiencing what’s called anticipation fever. I can’t wait for it to finally happen, the longer it goes on, the more stress builds up in me,” continues Gustav Terzen.

Gustav Terzen has extensive experience in radio work before. The first was in the 90s, when his father worked at “Radio Skonto”.

“As an employee’s child, I had an offer to host a children’s program on holidays together with Olga Rajeckas. I came, thinking that it would be like that, but Greviņš is sitting opposite [Toms]. We remember to this day that instead of hosting the show, we fought over who would pick up the phone when listeners called. Then Olga was forced to comfort us,” recalls Gustavs Terzens.
