The 14th edition of the Gala International Cider Fair (Sisga), which will be held in Gijón from Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 September, will bring together cider presses from four continents, including three from Japan, which will offer 200 varieties of cider that are served in a glass and not for pouring. The event will take place for the first time coinciding with Agropec and for this reason tastings will be held at the Palacio de Congresos in the Luis Adaro venue on Friday and Saturday, the latter day open to the public for a fee of 10 euros.
Marcos Abel Fernández, president of the Asturias XXI Foundation, highlighted the importance of the attendance of cider producers from all over the world who participate here in activities of pairing their ciders with Asturian agri-food products with a designation of origin or geographical indication, of which these producers are then “ambassadors”.
The international jury that will award the prizes to the best gala ciders in Sisga will be made up of the participating cider makers themselves. “We just need them to dare to come from Australia,” said the president of the jury, Manuel Gutiérrez Busto.
