Marcus Pettersson accounted for two assists when his Pittsburgh won at home against Minnesota with 4–3, in a match that for the home team can be described as unnecessarily exciting.
Pittsburgh led with 3-0 well into the middle act after Pettersson assisted Reilly Smith and Evgeni Malki on the first and third goals respectively.
But the guests came back. The first reduction came with barely five minutes left in the second when Ryan Hartman found the net via an assist from Marcus Johansson. Just over two minutes later, Jacob Middleton made it 2-3 and a bit into the third, Vinni Lettieri managed to equalise.
In the end, however, Minnesota had to leave the ice without a point after Sidney Crosby sealed the final score 4–3, his 18th goal of the season.
