Cielke Sijben and Thijs Maalderink stopped on Monday as sidekicks of the program The Wild In The Afternoon, by DJ Ruud de Wild. A spokesperson for KRO-NCRV confirms this after previous reports Radiofreak.
“The ambition is to use a new format for The Wild In The Afternoon to come where more people participate in varying composition, “said the spokesman.
Last Wednesday, Sijben and Maalderink were informed by the broadcaster that their contracts would not be renewed. On Monday it was decided that they would stop immediately. The two were therefore also not heard in the broadcast of De Wild.
When asked whose initiative Sijben and Maalderink left, the spokesperson said: “We will not comment further on the conversation yesterday between the management and Cielke and Thijs.”
The broadcaster also does not make clear what exactly preceded the decision. However, a quick return is not possible for the duo.
“In recent years they have put together a fantastic program together with Ruud. We are very grateful to them for that. Unfortunately, we do not see any opportunities for Cielke and Thijs at KRO-NCRV in the short term, but we would like to talk to Cielke and Thijs as that will occur in the future. “
Sijben has been affiliated with since the beginning in 2017 The Wild In The Afternoon. Maalderink joined at the end of 2018, when he succeeded Martijn Bruggeman.
De Wild tested positive for coronavirus
On Monday afternoon, De Wild indicated in his radio show that he has still tested positive for the corona virus. The radio DJ had himself tested last week, after his girlfriend Olcay Gulsen had tested positive for the virus. The test for De Wild was negative.
However, because he was not feeling well, he recently decided to get tested again. Due to the positive corona test, De Wild continues to present from home. De Wild also says he feels “rotten”. Gulsen is completely fit again, he says.
