Patricia Stewart, who has a bone disease, fell at the entrance to her house. Images shared by her cousin show her lying on the ground and the postman talking to her for a moment before walking away.
“I can’t help you, I’m exhausted. Really exhausted ”, the man said to her, said Stewart. The action was captured by a camera in the neighbor’s doorbell. “The postman had just delivered two small packages to me and placed them on a step at the entrance. When I tried to get them I felt dizzy and fell. The postman just left and he didn’t see me falling so I called for help and asked him if he could help me get up, but he said he was exhausted and left me there in the snow. ”
Stewart was in the snow for about 20 minutes before a delivery lady came to the rescue, Mirror reports. She has been checked by ambulance staff, but is doing well under the circumstances. “Everything still hurts a bit. My head is painful where I fell on. ”
The woman’s niece, 36-year-old Sheryl Harkins, visits her aunt several times a day. “At first I was angry, then I was upset. I’m in shock. This could have turned out very differently if the delivery lady had not found her. ”
A Royal Mail manager has now paid the woman a visit and apologized. He promised the incident “will not be swept under the rug.” Whether that means that the postman will be fired is unclear. “We are in contact with the victim and have the case under investigation,” said a spokesman.
