President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) met Elon Musk to discuss and review the SpaceX rocket production site in Boca Chica, United States (US). The meeting took place on Saturday (14/5) at 10.30 local time.

“A follow-up to my order to talk to Elon about investment, about technology, about innovation, and now I’m here and meet directly with Elon to discuss future cooperation,” Jokowi said, quoted from the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube, Sunday (15/5). /2022).
“I think he (Elon Musk) is very interested in coming to Indonesia immediately, and he said he could come to Indonesia,” continued Jokowi.
Previously, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said Jokowi would meet Elon Musk during his visit to the US. The meeting is an effort to accelerate the development of the nickel industry to supply batteries for electric vehicles.
A representative from Tesla Inc last week visited Indonesia and plans to visit the nickel production center in Morowali, Central Sulawesi.
“They will visit Morowali. They are very satisfied with the data they have received so far,” Luhut said at a press conference, Monday (9/5/2022).
Luhut himself met Elon Musk in April. He had expressed his hope for a discussion on the progress of the development of Indonesia’s high-tech nickel industry, which could bring Indonesia into the global supply chain of the electric vehicle industry.
