«Liver cancer is one of the most important challenges facing our healthcare system. It represents a significant concern for public health, as highlighted by the numbers related to incidence and mortality. The fight against and treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma requires a strong collective commitment, which is of a health and cultural nature. Our Region can boast excellence that can represent a model in treatment and care.” This was said by the regional councilor for health, Giovanna Volo, who this morning at Villa Malfitano, in Palermo, participated in the conference on the theme “Hepatocarcinoma, prevention and treatment“, organized by the specialist magazine AZ Salute and the Giornale di Sicilia.
«It is essential – added the councilor – to be able to create a structured and integrated care network, capable of always putting the patient at the center of the therapeutic path. Together with an early diagnosis, I consider it essential to make a cultural effort on lifestyles, to prevent those behaviors that could favor the onset of hepatocellular carcinoma. At the same time, it is essential to inform citizens to spread awareness of the importance of carrying out periodic checks. The Region is ready to do its part, with a view to synergy with those who are involved every day on this front.”
