A 27-year-old American nurse published photos this week on social media showing the marks caused by Covid-19, eight months after being in a Covid sick wing on the front line of fighting the pandemic.
The picture on the left is Kathryn in April, when she finished her degree and started a nursing career. The image on the right is recent. Sadder, looking tired and with marks on the face due to protective equipment. When he took it off, the nurse was in the middle of a shift of more than 12 hours on Saturday at the hospital where she works, in the state of Tennessee, in the United States.
Kathryn doesn’t know what it’s like to be a nurse under normal circumstances. The last eight months were the first of his career, in a hospital filled with patients infected with Covid-19.
“I resigned myself to the fact that things are going to get worse in a few weeks, but I wanted the worst to happen now, so that we could overcome it once and for all”, told the British newspaper Metro, referring to Christmas and Thanksgiving Day.
The nurse also said that the hospital’s administrative space has been transformed in recent days to receive extra beds for Covid patients.
Kathryn, 27, also considered that there is a lot of misinformation and conspiracy theories that affect the work of health professionals and said that she and her colleagues struggle every day against this misinformation in relation to Covid-19.
The publication with the two photographs of the nurse on the social network Twitter has this Tuesday more than 84 thousand shares.
With more than 12 million infected since the beginning of the pandemic, the United States is the country with the most confirmed cases and fatalities. The state of Tennessee, where the nurse is from, has 334,000 people infected and more than 4,000 deaths.
