The news of the death was confirmed by North Yorkshire police, who were called to the scene at about 4:30 pm on Thursday.

“The incident occurred during a record attempt at British Land Speed ​​and the driver, Zef Eisenberg, 47, died tragically at the scene,” police said.

Ten years ago, former Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond suffered an almost fatal accident also in Elvington, when he was traveling more than 480 kilometers per hour.

This aerodrome is a very popular place for those who want to drive at high speed, but also known for tragic accidents.

Motorsport UK, in a statement, has already mourned Eisenberg’s death and said it would investigate the causes of the accident.

It was known that Zef Eisenberg was trying to beat “British Land Speed”, achieved by pilot Tony Densham, in 1970.
