The number of deaths caused by new coronavirus this Tuesday rose to 2,009, 136 more than the latest balance sheet released by Chinese authorities, all in Hubei province.
Of the 2,009 fatalities, 2,004 are in Chinese territory, one in the philippines, one in Hong Kong, one in Japan, one in France and one in Taiwan. There are still more than 75,000 confirmed cases.
Portugal without coronavirus
Portugal remains without confirmed cases of the new coronavirus. The Directorate-General for Health announced this Tuesday that the most recent suspected case was negative.
In a statement, DGS states that “(…) the 11th suspected infection case for a new Coronavirus (COVID-19), a child who was today referred to the Dona Estefânia Hospital, (…) was negative after laboratory tests by the National Health Institute Dr. Ricardo Jorge (INSA), with two biological samples negative “.
All suspected cases in Portugal have so far been negative.
How coronavirus laboratory tests are performed
The analyzes to detect the new coronavirus are carried out at the Ricardo Jorge Institute, in Lisbon. Twenty more laboratories are preparing to carry out analyzes, if necessary, but they do not have a laboratory with negative pressure for receiving the sample.
