Khabib Nurmagomedov ask Justin gaethje shut up about bragging about the UFC lightweight world champion. Islam Makhachev is claimed to be more deserving of the title.
Gaethje, who recently succeeded in defeating Michael Chandler through a fierce battle at UFC 268 last weekend.
The duel received praise for presenting fierce battles throughout the round. The buying and selling of punches took place and Gaethje was entitled to emerge as the winner.
After the fight, Gaethje said his ambition to win the UFC lightweight world title was just one step away. He also did not hesitate to challenge the winner of the duel Charles Oliveira vs Dustin Poirier.
“People respect us because it’s not boxing but because the best fight has happened. I had to fight the winner Oliveira vs Poirier to be the best in the sport and I’m happy with that,” Gathje was quoted as saying by MMA Fighting.
Khabib criticized Gaethje’s comments that seemed arrogant. Khabib thinks his protege, Islam Makhachev, is more worthy of winning the lightweight world title.
“In the last three fights, you lost three times Justin. You do have a chance to be champion, but you seem to fall asleep when Islam won 9 wins in a row, of which three matches occurred in 2021 and all won,” wrote Khabib on Twitter.
“Shut up and admit that Islam deserves this title, not you,” Khabib added.
Makhachev is currently on the rise after winning nine consecutive wins. Finally, the Russian fighter managed to beat Dan Hooker in the first round at UFC 267 last month.
Khabib believes that Makhachev deserves the opportunity to fight for the UFC world title against the winner of Oliveira vs. Poirier.
