Her sensational tennis ride attracted crowds. Fourteen-year-old tennis talent Brenda Fruhvirt won the second ITF tournament in a row in Tucaman, Argentina. After the transformed swordfish, she received the well-deserved applause. In the lively ranking of the season, the young Czech Republic has already shot into the top five hundred.
The atmosphere of the finals of a tennis event in northwestern Argentina would easily stand the scale of a medium-sized WTA tournament. The clay courts in Tucamán crowded hundreds of people on Sunday to see the fourteen-year-old Czech miracle in a duel with the home star, former 59th player of the world Paula Ormachea.
After the transformed swordball, she received a standing ovation, even though she had just defeated the Argentine tennis player. And her loud applause interrupted her speech, which directly called for Fruhvirt to make the famous aria from Evita’s musical “Shut up, my Argentino” growl.
Not that the Czech hopes were reminiscent of former President Eva Perón, but over the past two weeks, Fruhvirt has suggested that she could one day be the first lady of world tennis.
“I didn’t even expect it to be like this. I have my fan club here, people want to take pictures with me after the match. It’s great that so many people support me here,” the 14-year-old admitted during the week.
The defeated finalist did not hide his admiration for the rising star, who won the second and second, after the premiere adult title, within two weeks.
“It’s amazing what you’ve accomplished, the $ 25,000 tournament isn’t just that, and you’ve won the title twice in a row, you have a great future ahead of you, you’re a great tennis player,” Ormachea said in a thank-you speech.
The way in which the tennis player, who got into the tournament through the junior rankings, also acted on the way to both trophies is also respectable. Without losing the set, she defeated the opponents from the second and third hundred, in Sunday’s final she managed to turn the third decisive set from 1: 3.
“It was not easy today, but I have to thank the spectators, thanks to them I still gained energy,” she admitted after the match.
Next Monday, she should be in the top five of the leaderboard, where she will be the youngest player by far.
