The President of the Port Authority, Victor Gamero Garcia, exchanged with the employers of Melilla, the Confederation of Entrepreneurs (CEME) and the Association of Traders (ACSEMEL) on the critical economic situation of the port and the city and the need to implement an economic recovery and commercial revitalization plan.

Spanish exports of manufacturing, textiles and agri-food products to Algeria have gradually increased in recent years, said Gamero Garcia, adding that the two countries are jointly developing more than a hundred projects in the agri-food, soap factory, paper, marble, shoes and basic necessities.

This “multisector trade” mission to Algeria is of particular importance in that it should lead to the establishment in the short term of a shipping line with this country to facilitate the supply of products, added the president of the Port Authority, stressing that medium-term actions are also envisaged to boost the economy of Melilla.
