Thiruvananthapuram – T. Siddique said that the government is spending lakhs in the court in the case of the murder of Shuhaib, who was the president of the Youth Congress Mattannur block, because the accused were involved in the VIP quotation. He was talking about the revelation of the first defendant that the killing of Shuhaib was done on the instructions of the CPM leaders. Siddique said that the Chief Minister is saying that there is no need for CBI investigation in the case to protect the accused. High-ranking people are involved in murder. Siddique also demanded a CBI investigation to unearth the conspiracy. The opposition walked out of the House protesting against the denial of permission to the urgent motion.
The chief minister replied that the investigating officers have not received any new complaints or evidence in the Shuhaib case and the police investigation was conducted efficiently. The accused were brought to justice regardless of their political background. Action was taken to cancel the bail as the first accused Akash Tillankeri violated the bail conditions and was accused in another case. There has been no laxity on the part of the police in the case. The CBI opposed the investigation not to protect the accused. When there was a reference against the police, the court was approached against it. The Chief Minister said that CPM is not working under the shadow of goons and action will be taken against whoever committed the crime.
T. Siddique said that the issue is being raised in the Assembly in connection with the comments made by the Quotation group controlled by the CPM in the social media. Shuhaib was brutally hacked to death. The quotation team of CPM has done the exact work. CPM is the party that called Akash’s father and told the matter before expelling the first accused Akash Tillankeri from the party. It was like telling a father before sending his child out of school.
Quotation group has no direct connection with Shuhaib. Political rivalry is behind the murder. Accused Akash Tillankeri said that the killing was done on the instructions of the party leaders and to be frank many people cannot walk out. If there is new revelation in the case, re-investigation should be conducted. Lawyers who appear for the accused are paid lakhs of rupees. The first accused, Akash Tillankeri, was given the facility to talk to his girlfriend for six hours in the jail. The government has taken a stand to save the accused without imposing UAPA. T. Siddique said that the CPM and DYFI leadership are providing all the help to the accused.
The Chief Minister said that the accused and those who helped the accused were arrested on the basis of evidence. The police did not look at the politics of the accused. The government did not weaken the case. The party will not protect those who do wrong. It cannot be said that the party is free from mistakes. There will be human errors. The party is not in a position to hide mistakes and protect them. The chief minister said that wrong doers should not be glorified.
