European Powerhouse Joins 4Aces in LIV Golf Shakeup
The LIV Golf landscape shifted dramatically Monday with a blockbuster trade that sees Belgian star Thomas Pieters, a proven Ryder Cup performer, joining forces with the 4Aces. The move marks a significant shakeup for both teams involved and signals a renewed commitment from the 4Aces to reclaim their place at the top of the LIV Golf standings.
Pieters, known for his long drives and clutch performances, previously played for the RangeGoats where he achieved a respectable 30th position in the 2024 Individual points standings.
The Belgian golfer expressed his excitement about the move, stating, "I’m super-excited about playing for DJ and I look forward to push him as hard as I can.”
This move comes after a disappointing 2024 season for the 4Aces, who failed to defend their 2022 Team Championship title despite early success.
“Happy to have Thomas on the team,” said 4Aces Captain, Dustin Johnson. “He’s a great addition, great player and makes the team stronger. Really excited for next season.”
The 4Aces signaled their intent to shake things up at the end of the 2024 season, mirroring other proactive roster changes seen across the LIV Golf circuit.
The Rangegoats, captained by Bubba Watson, haven’t shied away from making bold roster moves in the past – last year’s trade involving 2023 LIV Golf Individual Champion Talor Gooch being a prime example.
Weighing in on the decision to trade Pieters, RangeGoats General Manager Randall Wells commented, "The decision to trade Thomas Pieters was not easy. He has been a valuable member of RangeGoats GC since we launched two years ago.
“But the nature of LIV and team golf requires teams to make tough decisions. Like other team sports, we have to take into account a host of factors, including player contracts and the fact we have a limited number of roster spots. In this case, we felt the roster flexibility and the possibilities it opens up was best for the RangeGoats."
This trade signals an intriguing new chapter for both teams as they strategize for the 2025 LIV Golf season. With Pieters’ addition, the 4Aces hope to return to their previously dominant form, leveraging his international experience and proven track record on the biggest stages in golf.
