Chennai: Indian cricketer Shubman Gill will not play in India’s second match against Afghanistan as he is suffering from dengue fever. This was announced in a BCCI press release on Monday.
Gill missed the first match against Australia in Chennai due to dengue fever. Ishan Kishan opened the innings instead of Gill. India vs Afghanistan match in Delhi on 11th. BCCI informed that Gill will not travel to Delhi with the team. The board also stated that the player will remain in Chennai under the supervision of the medical team.
Gill is the top scorer in ODIs in 2023. The absence of Gill, who scored 1230 runs at an average of 72.35 this year with five centuries and five fifties, is a setback for India. It is reported that dengue patients may take seven to 10 days to fully recover. Because of this, Gill may need to rest for up to 10 days.
