Shroud reveals why he chose Twitch over YouTube or Facebook

Michael “shroud“Grzesiek recently returned to Twitch after Mixer closed in July, and he revealed why he hasn’t been on competing sites like YouTube and Facebook.

The former CS: GO pro player first established himself as one of the world’s leading streamers on Twitch, before moving to Microsoft-owned Mixer. He was one of the many major players in this project, alongside Ninja and Ewok from FaZe Clan.

But on June 22, Mixer announced its shutdown and migration to Facebook Gaming. This decision left many streamers without a contract.

Only, shroud revealed that he had never considered switching to YouTube or Facebook Gaming. The famous streamer said during his return live that he always returned to the site on which he had built his community.

I’m streaming exclusively on Twitch, and nowhere else! In fact i’m back“said the former Mixer streamer.

Many of you are thinking: why Twitch? Obviously Twitch is the best, obviously! I was born and raised on this platform from the start. It is the biggest streaming platform. It is certainly the biggest in the field of gaming.

Twitch fits well with the big plans I have in the gaming industry. I may have plans for soon … I won’t tell you about it just yet. But there are some cool things I’m up to! A lot of secrets are in my head right now, a lot.

Twitch : Shroud

Shroud hit a peak of 517,000 viewers when he returned to Twitch.-

But those plans won’t come true right away, Shroud revealed. He wants to first “let the whole thing stabilize first” before unveiling something else “huge” in the near future.

Get used to me being here. I’m here for the long haul, “he said.” I’m not going to burn out, but I’ll be there often. I’m not going anywhere.

Shroud’s statement that Twitch is “the biggest streaming platform on the market” is a direct echo of the reason Pokimane gave when she endorsed her own exclusive deal last March. The famous streamer who is currently on a month-long hiatus admitted that she even took “less money” to stay with the platform.

“There isn’t a lot of recognition on other platforms,” Pokimane said at the time. “You might be on another site with 30,000 viewers, but people won’t see you as a top streamer because everyone watches the Twitch space exclusively.”

For now, it looks like Twitch has won the first battle of the Platform Wars. But YouTube is still in contention, especially with the recent arrival of Dr Disrespect who moved there after his Twitch ban last June.

Other big names in Mixer, such as Gothalion and Ewok, have already made new deals after their platform collapsed. The former was quick to jump into Facebook Gaming, while Ewok has joined Twitch on August 12.
