Trump campaign team falsely accuses immigrants of eating pets

Donald Trump’s campaign and its allies have spread false rumors accusing Haitian immigrants in Ohio of kidnapping and eating pets, an accusation that has been denied by local authorities, who say they have no evidence to support these claims. Despite this, figures such as Senator JD Vance and other Republicans have repeated these rumors, raising concerns about the spread of racist stereotypes and misinformation about non-white immigrants. Even Trump himself has used manipulated images on his social media to perpetuate this narrative.

Following these rumors, local officials, including Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, have rejected the accusations and reaffirmed their support for the Haitian community. The city of Springfield, which has seen an increase in its Haitian population, has also clarified that the migrants are in the country legally under a temporary federal program. These types of rumors, although unfounded, worry organizations such as the Haitian Bridge Alliance, which warn of the risks of misinformation and its possible violent repercussions.

MILEI DISMISSES OFFICIAL OVER SUSPICION OF CORRUPTION IN HIS GOVERNMENT

Argentine President Javier Milei has fired Thierry Decoud, the auditor of the state-owned company Yacimientos Carboníferos Río Turbio (YCRT), on suspicion of corruption in a failed negotiation with the Israeli company TEGI. The operation, which involved the sale of 30 thousand tons of coal for 2.1 million dollars, did not prosper due to TEGI’s refusal to pay bribes to alleged intermediaries close to Decoud. Although the case is not yet under judicial investigation, the ultra-liberal president decided to take preventive measures to guarantee transparency in state management.

Milei’s decision came after the newspaper Clarín revealed audio recordings of the intermediaries requesting bribes. Decoud denied having any ties to them and claimed that the sale of coal did not go through because the offers did not meet the required conditions. However, the government decided to remove him while the facts are clarified. The opposition, represented by legislator Graciela Ocaña, filed a criminal complaint against Decoud and the intermediaries.
