At an extraordinary open meeting of the temporary commission for investigation of police violence and wiretapping of protesting citizens, recordings from security cameras from the region were shown to the Council of Ministers.
WE WARN – THE STAFF CONTAINS VIOLENCE. The video was shot by surveillance devices under the columns of the Council of Ministers during the anti-government protest on July 10, 2020.
“The videos hidden by the authorities for more than a year, including 2 court panels, show acts of excessive police violence against protesting citizens,” the Poison Trio said.
The videos show how for 17 minutes, 7 young people were dragged, beaten, including with truncheons and thrown behind the columns. The footage has been wanted for more than a year, and was eventually found in a drawer at the Interior Ministry, said lawyer Nikolay Hadjigenov of the temporary commission for investigation of police violence.
The Police Violence Protest Commission will request information from the services
“If these people were prisoners of war, I don’t think they would treat them like that. The oldest among them is 24 years old. You saw a man next to the columns how long it took one policeman to step on his back. This is Evgeni Marchev, then I spent 2 weeks in hospital, “he said.
Apart from the student Evgeni Marchev, the videos also show other protesters who were thrown behind the columns. “All the time, a police officer is joking with Tsveti, who is wearing a bra and is very young, scared and beaten,” Hadjigenov added.
Nikolay Hadjigenov received these recordings yesterday by courier sent by Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov. “Boyko Rashkov sent two people who work only on this. In the end, they found him in a drawer at the SDVR, “he said.
The first request from the staff of the National Security Service was sent in July last year. “On July 14, I sent a letter to the NSO. There is no answer for more than a year. They are covered up because they show a crime by uniformed people, “Hadjigenov said.
The NSO reminded that they had provided the staff to the SDVR. And they told NOVA that this type of personal data can only be provided to the security service and public order. That is why the request of lawyer Hadjigenov was rejected.
“In the previous National Assembly I pointed out Mladen Marinov as guilty. I also mentioned Boyko Borissov, because this is on purpose, day two of the protest, and this is one of the things they are taught at the Magnaur School, ”Nikolay Hadjigenov commented.
At the moment, the police officers from the videos have been punished with a remark. Our request for comment from the then Interior Minister Mladen Marinov was rejected. And GERB told NOVA that every employee who has exceeded his powers under the law must answer to him.
The next Commission meeting is scheduled for 18 August. Officers and directors involved in the use of SRS against protesting citizens will then be heard.
