Aaron Judge and Gio Urshela let their power be felt and thanks to that, the New York Yankees start the series against the Baltimore Orioles on the right foot.
‘The Judge’ hit two home runs while Urshela produced three runs with which the ninth New Yorker, with some absences on his roster, beat the Oropendolas 5-4.
Judge has hit 19-10 with five home runs in games this season against the Orioles. He has 13 career home run games, including five against Baltimore.
Colombian Urshela is still suffering from pain in his left knee, but it was available in the seventh inning. After Miguel Andújar singled, Kyle Higashioka walked. Urshela hit his second career pinch homer off Travis Lakins (1-4) to erase a 4-2 deficit.
The Yankees lacked several key players, including Venezuelan Gleyber Torres, infected with COVID-19; center fielder Aaron Hicks, injured in the left wrist, and slugger Giancarlo Stanton, ruled out at the last minute with a stiff left quadriceps problem.
