Shouts warning: – – Tired of watching people die

The arrows are pointing in the wrong direction in the United States, where more and more states are reporting sky-high infection rates, full hospitals and many corona-related deaths. In the past week, the number of covid deaths has increased by more than 50 percent in 14 states, while another 28 states registered an increase of at least 10 percent, according to Johns Hopkins University.

Healthcare professionals are now shouting warnings about the critical situation. It writes several US media, including CNN.

Lack of oxygen

The new delta wave has accelerated hospital admissions in the United States, where the states in the south of the country are particularly hard hit.

– I have never believed before that we have experienced so many critically ill, and that so many are so ill at the same time, says Jythir Mehta, physician and head of the intensive care unit at the Pheobe Putney Memorial Hospital in Georgia

Hospitals in Florida, South Carolina, Texas and Louisiana are now struggling with oxygen deficiency.

– The recent increase in infection has resulted in a great need for oxygen supply. The hospitals are unable to meet this need, says Donna Cross, senior director at the health trust Premier, to the channel.

She continues:

– It is a very critical situation.

Tired of watching people die

The hospitalization rate is currently the highest in Florida, which on Saturday had 75 hospitalized covid patients per 100,000 inhabitants. Ahmed Elhaddad, medical director of the intensive care unit at Jupiter Medical Center, told CNN that he was “tired of watching people die.”

– The delta variant “eats” people’s lungs, which causes them to collapse. We see that patients die faster from the delta variant than other virus mutations, he says.

In Oregon, the number of corona-related deaths is rising so sharply that several areas no longer have room for all the dead in morgues. The counties of Tillamook and Josephine have therefore asked the state authorities for freezer trailers to deal with the situation. This is confirmed by Bobbi Doan at the Oregon Office for Crisis Situations, opposite NBC News.

Earlier this month, the Texas State Health Service (DSHS) also asked the government five mobile morgues, pending an influx of covid deaths.

100,000 more will die

Fresh figures from Worldometers shows that the United States has registered just under 40 million cases of infection and 654,689 covid deaths since the pandemic gained a foothold in the country.

52 percent of the population is fully vaccinated, according to Saturday’s figures from the American Infection Control Agency, CDC. But as many as 80 million Americans – who have been offered the vaccine – have not been vaccinated, according to the United States’ chief of infection control, Anthony Fauci.

He believes that the United States will register another 100,000 corona-related deaths by December if vaccination coverage does not increase.

– What is happening now is completely predictable, but also preventable. “We have the means to reverse this trend – and we can do it quickly and effectively if we can only vaccinate these people,” Fauci told CNN.
