Cristiano Ronaldo received an SBC flashback today in FIFA 21. It’s actually a downgraded rating to 87 and dates back to his Manchester United debut. However, that card is still in Juventus and Serie A.
Although the card is downgraded, it is still Ronaldo. He keeps his iconic body shape in the game and 5 star skill moves, with a fantastic pace. For around 200k-300k, at this point in the game almost anyone can get their hands on Ronaldo, which is great.
The card arrived alongside a selection of TOTY ‘honorable mention’ players today.

So, is this Ronaldo card worth it for the price? The community divides Ronaldo quite a bit. For those who can afford the more expensive version of the map, of course, version 87 of the map might seem a bit silly if you already have the highest rated version.
However, many people don’t have a million coins to spend on a single player. This card is designed for the casual gamer, a novelty card, which allows players who are not constantly grinding or spending money to play with Ronaldo.
Here is an overview of the statistics thanks to FUTBIN.
Obviously, this card is a big downgrade over the other version of Ronaldo, and at this point in the game the card is probably already behind the power curve for die-hard FIFA gamers or spenders. Ronaldo only has 79 shots and a pretty terrible balance, at 79 as well. The map also only has 3 star skill moves.
In terms of positives, those pace stats are still strong and his dribbling is good. It would probably be a fun card to use in the Premier League, but as I mentioned he is still in ‘Piemonte Calcio’. We’re also at a stage in FIFA 21 where it’s easy to craft and build high quality cards, which means you can probably cut the cost of that SBC by a big margin.
For 200-300k, you can certainly also get your hands on different and better meta-suited cards at this point in the game. However, those cards aren’t Ronaldo. It’s a pretty cool concept for an SBC. Could EA have done a little better? Probably yes. But the concept is cool.
This is a novelty card. Pretty fun idea for an EA SBC and something you probably shouldn’t take too seriously. It gives casual players the chance to play with one of the most iconic players in modern football, and that’s a good idea from EA.
