Should we send weapons to Kyiv? Saxe-Coburg-Gotha speaks

Is it possible to calculate how many and whose lives will be saved by sending weapons to Ukraine or by supplying only protective equipment? On the one hand, the war could be shortened and a truce could be reached, because the two warring parties are more equal in their weapons. It is impossible to calculate. For us, in particular, it is much more complicated than for some other countries that do not have our history. Each move must be very carefully considered.

Thus, former Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha answered a question whether Bulgaria should send weapons to Kyiv in an interview with Epicenter.bg.

Saxe-Coburg-Gotha added that there are other countries, inside and outside the EU, that have not taken a firm side in the conflict.

“Personally, I am allergic to dictatorships coming from any great power. Dictatorships are something I do not accept, no matter how dialogical I am. It is good to consider very carefully what our interests are in the long run,” said the former. prime minister.

According to him, in the last 20 years the West has failed to include Russia, and the feeling was that we are stronger and more powerful. According to Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, Western countries do not distinguish Russia from President Putin, and President Putin and his team are one thing, and Russia and the Russian people are another.

“Compared to the Caribbean crisis, today the moment seems hopeless. They play all kinds of interests, they should not be seen only from one side, but for Europe it is a great challenge – I would say danger. Stakeholders are looking for a united and strong Europe. That is why we need to react convincingly. Europe must keep its role and word on the world stage at all costs, “said Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.

However, he added that the West is wrong to attack everything Russian in this way – this can only provoke a counter-reaction.

“I think it is short-sighted – day after day, instead of learning from history and the past …”, added the former prime minister.
