Should municipalities shell out additional costs for public transport

For the time being, the cantonal council is supporting two initiatives aimed at countering tightened speed limits on main roads. However, the bourgeois signatories do not have a majority for this.

The Zurich City Council did dampen its original plans for an almost nationwide introduction of 30 km/h in December. The cantonal FDP had previously announced a popular initiative to make it impossible for cities to limit the speed on main roads. She fears a reduced attractiveness of public transport, which, like cars, would be slowed down.
