Hitekno.com – WhatsApp to be one application chat is popularly used in various countries, including Indonesia. Maybe you are also one of the users?
According to Sensor Tower data, WhatsApp is the fifth most downloaded application worldwide. Making it one of the most popular among other chat applications.
Some time ago, WhatsApp also enforced a privacy sharing policy for their parent company, Facebook. After many protests, WhatsApp then clarified that the policy was for users WhatsApp Business and WhatsApp Business API.
But what is the difference between WhatsApp, WhatsApp Business, and WhatsApp Business API?
Following are the differences between the three as quoted from the official WhatsApp statement, Thursday (11/2/2021).
1. WhatsApp
WhatsApp is a messaging application commonly used by users. This platform is designed to exchange messages with other individuals.
When you send messages to other people who are also using WhatsApp, all calls and whatever content you send, whether in the form of text, photos, voice messages, or location, are automatically protected with end-to-end encryption. -end.
This means that the message that you send is automatically “scrambled” and can only be “cracked” by the cell phone belonging to the recipient of the message you are referring to. No party outside the chat can read your messages, including WhatsApp and Facebook.
2. WhatsApp Business
WhatsApp Business is a free application aimed at small and medium enterprises (SMEs) equipped with various features to facilitate business messaging with customers.
When you send a message to your WhatsApp Business account, you may immediately get the greetings sent automatically. You can also see the business profile along with the product catalog on the top right side of the chat.
When you see a product you like, you can put the product in the cart and send it as a direct message in the chat. Like your conversations with WhatsApp users, conversations remain end-to-end encrypted, which means that messages are known only to you and the business.
Many small businesses also put up advertisement on Facebook and Instagram by displaying a clickable button to connect to WhatsApp.
As with most Facebook ads, if you choose to click on these ads, this choice can affect the personalization of the ad you will see. However, WhatsApp and Facebook are still unable to view the content of all end-to-end encrypted messages.
3. WhatsApp Business API
WhatsApp Business API is a paid interface application used by businesses to manage customer service on a large scale via WhatsApp. Businesses using the WhatsApp Business API need to accommodate the thousands of messages they send and receive every day.
They can do this themselves or through a third party service. WhatsApp Business API users will also soon have the option to use Facebook Hosting Services.
WhatsApp will notify you when the user starts communicating with the account using the third party for hosting the API. Users are free to choose whether to continue the interaction or not.
If you choose to continue interacting, even if you don’t see the label end-to-end encryption, your message will still be encrypted automatically when sent to the recipient. WhatsApp and Facebook cannot read or use it to advertise.
The only difference is that WhatsApp Business API user messages may be stored and managed via a third party server. In theory, this is similar to when you backup your conversations using a cloud service, which is then considered end-to-end encrypted.
That’s the difference between WhatsApp, WhatsApp Business, and WhatsApp Business API that you should know. (Voice.com/ Dicky Prastya).
