Johnson asked Secretary of State Simon Case to investigate the allegations about the parties, but now Case has withdrawn.

Invited to “Christmas party!”

According to BBC A meeting was held at Case’s office on December 17. The invitation that was sent out read “Christmas party!”, Writes the BBC. Around 15 people are said to have been invited, but so many are not said to have turned up.

A government spokesman said several of the participants, who had worked in the office during the pandemic, were sitting at their own desks. Others must have participated online.

– No outsiders were invited or present. It lasted an hour, and drinks and snacks were bought by the participants, the spokesman said.

Case knew about the event

Case did not attend, but walked through the room and gave a small closing speech for his staff.

The intention was that his investigation of the three parties should determine whether the gatherings were in violation of the regulations at the time. Now it is the official Sue Gray who takes over for Case.

On Wednesday, Johnson encouraged people in England to, among other things, work from home again, and to wear bandages indoors in public places.

At the same time, he has been criticized from all sides for the alleged parties. In addition to members of Johnson’s own Conservative party, Labor politicians have also come up with harsh words.
