Should have informed SMK that the lease was dropped

“Today I would have saved myself a lot of problems and questions, if I had informed SMK 15 years ago that this lease was still not used. It was messy of me. ” writes Hadia Tajik in an email to TV 2.

She writes this after TV 2 on Tuesday night confronted her that the man who rented out the apartment in 2006 will not confirm that the lease she presented to the Prime Minister’s office in 2006 was real.

Showed contract – got tax exemption

TV 2 was in contact with the man on Tuesday afternoon, who did not want to confirm whether the contract was real or quiet for an interview about the case.

In 2006, Tajik was granted tax-free commuter housing in Oslo from the Prime Minister’s office when she became political adviser in Jens Stoltenberg’s government, and VG revealed Sunday that the Tajik then documented its right to the tax exemption by submitting a lease on a home she never used.

The tax exemption saved her several thousand kroner a month, according to VG. According to the National Register, Tajik was at one time registered at the address, but Tajik refuses to answer from and to what date she was reported resident at the address and also not why.

Taus Tajik

On Tuesday, TV 2 sent a number of questions to Tajik about the tenancy:

  1. You state that you have had “real living expenses” at the place of residence, but that you can not present receipts or other documentation of this. You also state that you do not dare to estimate a sum. What was the nature of these living expenses, and how often did you have them?
  2. What was the reason why you did not move into the home you signed a lease for in the late autumn of 2006?
  3. How did this lease come about? (So, why was this particular dwelling and what was the need for a new dwelling at this very time?)
  4. Do you have any documentation, beyond the contract itself, that can confirm that the contract was real and not something you produced on your own? For example, written communication with the landlord when the contract was entered into or that the landlord can confirm the authenticity of the contract today?

But according to the political adviser to the Labor Party’s deputy leader and Minister of Labor, she refuses to answer.

“Referring to the VG interview on the matter, it is adequate for Tajik’s response.” writes Tajik’s adviser Jorid Nordmelan to TV 2.

Says she had expenses with her parents

Tajik has stated to VG that she would in any case be entitled to a tax exemption because she had so-called real housing expenses in the home she lived in, which was her parents’ house in Rogaland.

“As I said to VG the first day, there was none of this tenancy, when I chose to live with my parents where I had real living expenses,” writes Tajik.

Tajik has told VG that she does not dare to estimate how much money she spent on these living expenses, and has refused to answer TV 2’s question about what this money was spent on.
