Berlin – Large police operation in Berliner Lichtenberg district! Because a local resident reported gunshots, the police arrived with submachine guns, helicopters and thermal imaging cameras.
The emergency call came in at around 1 a.m. on Friday morning. Residents of Möllendorffstrasse had heard gunshots near Lichtenberg Town Hall, and one caller even reported hearing a gun.
A helicopter also took off
The control center then initiated a major operation. Officers from the local police department, a police unit and a police helicopter with a thermal imaging camera were dispatched and checked the area.

While police armed with submachine guns searched the area, the helicopter crew discovered three suspects in a fenced area on the Parkaue.

A police spokeswoman said: “The people were then checked. When the suspects were searched, pyrotechnics were eventually confiscated.” The officers were unable to locate a firearm.

According to the investigation, an 18-year-old Afghan and two German youths aged 16 and 19 had gained access to the premises and set off firecrackers.
