Shots fired at a musical group in Pavia, a young man injured. The shots were probably fired by someone annoyed by the concert

A 20-year-old guitarist of a musical group was injured by several rifle shots fired at the stage where the band was performing. The event, which occurred around midnight last night, was reported today by the newspaper «La Provincia Pavese». The Burial of Babylon concert was taking place in the courtyard of the Bereguardo castle, a few kilometers from Pavia. Simone Maffei, the 20-year-old injured, is the guitarist of the group.

The young man felt a burning sensation on his shoulder. At first he thought it was an insect bite. Once he was taken to the emergency room of the Policlinico San Matteo in Pavia, a 4.5 caliber pellet that had lodged under his skin was removed. The investigations are being conducted by the Pavia mobile squad.

Signs of other pellets were found on the band’s musical instruments. None of the spectators heard the noise of the gunshots, probably because of the music. It is not excluded that the shooter was someone annoyed by the concert. Felice Bonizzoni, mayor of Bereguardo (Pavia), said he was sorry and surprised by what happened: “There have never been complaints in town about the volume being too high. I hope the police will be able to identify the person responsible for this act as soon as possible”. (ANSA).
