“I heard two loud sounds but I didn’t know what that was.”
This is how Julio Valenzuela relates the moment in which the shots were heard inside a building located at 7101 Bay Parkway.
These struck a 43-year-old Hispanic man who was injured in the bullfight and later lost his life.
According to the police, the victim was found in serious condition on the stairs of the building between the second and third floors.
The trail of the projectiles was marked on the stairs through which Altagracia Placencio climbs to her apartment every day.
“One feels bad, sad because it can happen to anyone, not just him, me, or someone else who comes to visit me.” Placencio said.
According to police data, in the first three months of the year, 253 shootings have been reported throughout the city.
Of those, barracks 62, attached to the neighborhood where the event occurred, only recorded 3 armed confrontations.
Silvia Cando, a resident of the area, assures that the area is quiet.
“Before we used to come at any time of the night, we were not afraid, there was no danger, but now with what has happened we are afraid.”
According to authorities, the victim did not live in the building but was a resident of Brooklyn.
Until now, his name remains anonymous until his relatives are notified of the death.
In relation to this case, the police indicated that they are looking for three Hispanic men who fled in a sedan vehicle.
