The allegations were filed by an ex-girlfriend in July, according to which Blake sexually assaulted her in May, took her car keys, debit card and disappeared. According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the police set out to detain Blake on the day of the shooting, according to the BBC.
Blake was shot in the back seven times during the arrest. A statement from police said the intervenors had unsuccessfully used a taser during the arrest. Jacob Blake insists on his innocence, dismissing all three charges. The trial is expected to begin later this year.
