Bögra Technologie GmbH in Solingen, one of the largest manufacturers of bronze and brass plain bearings, has equipped its mechanical production with the horizontal tool setting device KENOVA set line H3 from KELCH. By using it, the manufacturer achieves time savings of three hours per set-up process and 15 minutes per tool.

At the same time, tool presetting ensures consistently high quality when manufacturing sister tools with the same dimensions. Networking options offer potential for future expansions in production.

“We produce more than one million finished parts per month with the most modern processing equipment with a manufacturing accuracy of 8 µm and have a wide repertoire of high-performance bronzes and brasses. If necessary, we also respond to special material requests from our customers,” Michael Prawinski, the head of mechanical production, emphasizes the high quality standards at Bögra. The manufacturer is a direct and Tier 2 supplier for the world’s leading brands in the automotive industry.

Easy to use – reliable results

With a measuring length of X=420 mm x Z=350 mm, the compact KENOVA set line H3 tool presetter is perfectly suited to the desired range of applications. The horizontal tool measurement in the manual version can be easily integrated into the production environment. “We are currently using KENVOA set line for two machines, but can expand the use if necessary,” reports Michael Prawinski. Equipped with the CoVis software, the adjustment device is easy to operate and enables users to obtain reliable and fast results in their measurement and adjustment tasks. The display and the dialogue with the operator take place on the clearly arranged touchscreen. Logical measuring tasks, such as angle calculation, circle diameter and theoretical tip, can be easily activated with a fingertip using self-explanatory icons. The simple management of adapters, fixtures, tools and set-up plans enables permanent access to the results and supports rapid work processes.

Flexibility and process reliability

Equipped with a thermostable, FEM-optimized nodular iron construction, the device offers stable conditions for all operating conditions. The axes are conveniently adjusted by means of pneumatically released quick adjustment and, in addition, with endless fine adjustment for µm-precise adjustment. The setting device offers a variable table assembly and has an intelligent image processing and camera system, so that user errors or differences caused by the use of different employees are compensated for by reliable systems with consistently high precision. Michael Prawinski reports: “Our focus is on efficient automation and Industry 4.0 processes. The new adjustment device from KELCH fits perfectly with this orientation. Since the briefing, the KENOVA set line H3 has been used perfectly, our employees get along with it just fine.”
