“Shortened Stage on 13th Day of Race: What Happened and Why”

SHORTED STAGE: WHAT HAPPENED

We remind you that the start of the 13th stage took place at 3 pm and not at 12 as initially foreseen for the race direction’s decision to cancel the Italian part of the stage after the vote of 90 percent of the runners, Thursday evening, in view of the bad weather of Friday morning (prediction later denied). The cyclists were transported on buses over the Gran San Bernardo pass and the race started from La Chable and not from Borgofranco d’Ivrea, with two confirmed climbs (Croix de Coeur and Crans Montana) and the route shortened to 77 km from the 199 scheduled.
