Lhe “bad boy” of English rock Liam Gallagher apologized on Saturday for having cut short his concert the day before at the Beauregard festival, near Caen, citing “laryngitis”, also responsible according to him for the cancellation of his show scheduled for Sunday in Cognac.

“My apologies to everyone who came to the Bureaugard Festival (sic) last night, I was so disappointed to have to cut the set short,” the former lead singer of Oasis said on Twitter.

“I was diagnosed today with laryngitis and the doctors prescribed me rest. Unfortunately, this means that I have to cancel my next concert in Cognac…”, he added in reference to his planned visit to the Blues Passions festival, saying to himself “really sorry” but anxious to put his “health first” .

Late Friday evening, Liam Gallagher, 49, had been performing at Beauregard for around thirty minutes in front of more than 28,000 spectators when he suddenly left the stage in the middle of a song, visibly irritated, under the boos of a dumbfounded public, as shown by a video visible on social networks.

Before the singer’s apology on Saturday, festival organizers declined any responsibility.

“Since Wednesday, John (the nickname of the festival, editor’s note) and his teams have been doing everything possible to welcome festival-goers, partners, teams and of course, artists. We would like to point out that Liam Gallagher has cut short his concert for reasons totally unrelated to the festival, ”said the organizers in a press release sent to AFP.

“We are sorry for this situation, but the professionalism of our teams cannot be questioned,” they added.

Ninho and Vianney had played on the same stage before the arrival of Liam Gallagher, “pop icon” who was to “present his 3rd solo album ‘C’mon You Know'”, according to the festival’s website.

Organized in the town of Hérouville-Saint-Clair (Calvados), the Beauregard festival, which was created in 2009, lasts until Sunday.
