ANNOUNCEMENTS

The stores sold fewer items in the third quarter, but their revenue increased 4% due to higher prices. Despite the drop in sales (-2%), supermarkets recorded an 8.6% increase in turnover, reports CBS.

Drugstores, clothing and footwear shops are also doing well; they were the only ones to sell even more. Due to the higher prices, their turnover increased even faster, in pharmacies even by 9.6%.

Specialty food stores, such as butchers and dairies, are having a harder time. They sold 8.7% less. This decrease was offset by higher prices, but no more. As a result, their turnover has remained more or less the same.

Hardware stores, kitchen and flooring vendors, and furniture stores are around the corner where the shots are falling. Despite the higher prices, they have seen their turnover decrease as well as their sales. Furniture stores sold up to 16.5% fewer items; their turnover decreased by 5.1%, reports Statistics Netherlands.
