Shops / “Feel the Bern” for last-minute travelers: Esch asks (also) everything for the “grumpy chic”

A bigger place for the popular “Drupi’s” and the opening of Lola Valerius’ chocolate shop are the two good news for the Escher business world at the beginning of 2021. Interesting, but only for a short time, the pop-up store is still available until Saturday something different way of buying. And everything you need to knit Bernie Sanders’ now world-famous mittens.

While the “Drupi’s” on Saturday from the No. 59 of Alzettestrasse on the other side of the street into No. 26 (the former “Pimkie”, see above), the opening of the chocolate shop in avenue de la Gare will be delayed by about a month. Originally Lola Valerius wanted to open her doors on February 1st. Due to the corona pandemic, the work was delayed, so that the young “Chocolatière” is aiming for March 1st as the new opening date. The old “Drupi’s” bar is also to be taken over by CIGL and, for example, will offer local products from the “Escher Geméisguart”.

Locally produced is also the keyword for Laure Faber’s wool shop, which opened yesterday, Tuesday, in the Escher pop-up store. You can buy wool from species-appropriate wool production in this temporary shop, mainly from the greater region and mostly from small producers. Hand-spun, certified organic and plant-dyed yarn of all qualities is offered. There are also all the accessories and instructions you need for knitting. A special “gag” on offer: instructions for the “Berni mittens” (“Feel The Bern”). The sweaters designed by a Luxembourg designer should also be highlighted.

“How the sheep grow up and how they are treated or sheared is important to me. Unfortunately, there is only a very small wool production in Luxembourg, as most of the animals are intended as meat suppliers. Only the so-called ‘Lahuro wool’ contains Luxembourgish wool, ”says Laure Faber. She normally sells her wool at weekly markets, such as the Glacis market, but also at markets in the north of the country. For all knitting enthusiasts there is also the opportunity to buy natural wool in the Weltbuttek in Alzettestrasse.
