When the doors open at 7 a.m. on Thursday, 25,000 items will be ready in 1,600 square meters of retail space. 30 employees and two trainees keep the company going. The market is clearly structured, with niches for product groups such as dairy products. First the customer comes into the fruit and vegetable department, which is equipped with baskets. Then comes bread and rolls for breakfast, followed by the service counter for meat and sausage. Tom Stücken will run the market with his wife Merit.

He is proud that there are many local and regional offers on the market. Mushrooms from Görtz from Breyell, vegetables and fruit from the Genholter Hof in Brüggen, from the Winters in Gindorf or Bonus in Overhetfeld, rapeseed oil from the Mönchengladbach Volksverein, sausages from Brückner from Breyell, Glücklich ice cream from Krefeld, Goldhorn wholemeal bread from Grevenbroich, sauces from Walsdorf Gourmet from Moers, sweets from the Ehren manufactory in Mönchengladbach, Wunderlich popcorn from Viersen, van Nahmen fruit juices from Hamminkeln, spirits from Hartges from Schwalmtal – to name just a few examples. Tom Stücken had an extra shelf made at the entrance so that nobody has to go looking. The bakery Acht from Elmpt is also represented in the new market as a sub-tenant.

Shopping regionally is the big trend, including organic, of course. And meatless products for vegetarians are growing rapidly. A pick-up service is also offered in Niederkrüchten (order online, pick up later or have it picked up). Nothing is reminiscent of the Raiffeisen-Markt, which had moved to the Dam business park.
