Shopping holiday is approaching. Covodide stores will extend Black Friday for several days

According to Pavel Urban, Deputy Head of Shopping Centers at CBRE, most stores are preparing a special offer or discount on the occasion of Black Friday in shopping malls. According to him, this discount event is becoming more and more established in the minds of Czech customers, but it still does not have the same tradition as abroad.

According to Urban, some outlet centers abroad approach Black Friday as the most important event of the year. According to him, it is not perceived in the Czech Republic as more fundamental than the pre-Christmas period, but rather as the beginning of the purchase of Christmas presents.

According to Urban, no changes in the Black Friday menu are yet apparent in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. He doesn’t even expect much interest in shopping due to people’s fears of closing deals. “We have repeatedly heard from authorities that lockdowns will no longer occur, so people will be motivated by the discounts themselves and the need to buy as cheaply as possible, even under the pressure of rising inflation and constantly publicized prices,” said Urban.

The Fashion Arena Prague Outlet Center has prepared a so-called “Super Week” from November 22 to 29, in which, according to the center’s director Lenka Čapková, most stores will participate. According to her, the weekend connected with Black Friday was one of the strongest of the year in recent years. According to Čapková, this trend has intensified in the last five years. “The highest number of visitors on ´Black weekends was around 50,000 customers,” she told ČTK.

High customer interest

Freeport Fashion Outlet at Znojmo will expand Black Friday by Saturday and Sunday. According to its director Jan Procházka, traders will normally discount discounted goods by at least 30 percent by another on average 20 to 30 percent.

“The outlets have not yet been negatively affected by the shortage of goods, which is becoming more and more debated. This is largely due to the fact that traders will still sell out goods that have accumulated during the pandemic. In the long run, the average price of an item sold is more than ten percent, “he said.

According to Procházka, the number of visitors and sales of the Freeport Fashion Outlet center is on average 20 percent higher during the discount weekend than on Advent weekends and 40 percent higher than the long-term average.

Black Friday is also preparing a Premium Outlet Prague Airport throughout the weekend. More important for him, however, are the Christmas events, which, according to center spokeswoman Alena Gregorová, last significantly longer. For example, black Friday is more important for consumer goods, but in the case of fashion stores, customers spend the most in the run-up to Christmas, she added.
