“There is one condition – the discipline of every store, mall or furniture store. If it is not, the stores will be closed,” Morawiecki told a news conference. “This decision can save hundreds of thousands of jobs, and that’s why,” he added.
Morawiecki also clarified that the schools would remain closed until Christmas. At the same time, he urged the people of Poland to spend the holiday season only with their closest relatives and not to travel.
On Thursday, Poland reported 637 covid-19-related deaths, the most since the start of the pandemic, and nearly 24,000 newly infected. In a country of 39 million people, the number of proven cases of coronavirus has exceeded 800,000 since the onset of the pandemic. More than 12,700 people have died in the country since the spring of covid-19.
