Covid-19: a cluster despite vaccinations in a Landes nursing home
An Ehpad in Biscarosse (Landes) is closed until further notice, following the declaration of a cluster three weeks ago. It was an unvaccinated resident who had arrived in temporary accommodation who was the source of the contamination. 16 elderly people, who were vaccinated, were infected, including some from the pavilion for disoriented people. “The Covid was able to set in because all the barrier gestures were not respected, in particular the wearing of a mask”, explains Dr. Robert Sebbag, infectious disease specialist at the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital in Paris. Residents and caregivers of the nursing home now negative Two residents who had only received the first injection of the vaccine had to be hospitalized, even if their cases are not serious. “The fact of having been vaccinated protects them, estimates Didier Couteaud, director of the departmental delegation of ARS Landes. We see today when we look (…) the number of deaths, in nursing homes it has significantly decreased, so this is important: they will not have a serious form, they will not die of this disease. ” The time for relief is Thursday, April 15. According to a test carried out the day before, all 190 residents and caregivers of the nursing home are negative for Covid-19.
