Shop: – These are not kid’s jokes

Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre will visit the Sleipner platform on Saturday to get an overview of the situation on the platform and talk to employees.

In a speech to employees on the Sleipner platform in the North Sea, Støre says he recognizes the work they do.

Among other things, he continued to talk about the situation of the security policy and the attack on the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines.

– When something like this happens, we increase preparedness on the Norwegian continental shelf, says Støre and reiterates that there is no real threat to the Norwegian oil and gas sector.

Serious

He says both the military and the police have security plans, which he doesn’t want to enter.

Drones that have been observed at a number of oil and gas installations in recent weeks were also a topic of the meeting.

One of Sleipner’s employees says he’s worried about drones. The employee claims he has heard nothing about how to handle drones. He says he is very troubling.

– Of course, we don’t think these are kid’s jokes. How will the Prime Minister respond?

– These aren’t boyish jokes. I think we can establish that. And we take it seriously. The Oil Safety Authority has received reports on the matter. It is now under full police investigation from the police districts in southern Norway. We are strengthening relationships, to keep an eye on them, says Støre.

Above all follows

The Prime Minister also states that the Armed Forces are aware of this problem.

He also says drones have also been a topic at Norwegian airports.

– Given the current situation in Europe, we are following this in particular and very carefully, and we are ready to take all necessary measures, replies Støre.

Equinor CEO Anders Opedal and Equinor CEO Norwegian Continental Shelf Kjetil Hove also take part in the Støre visit to Sleipner.

Like Støre, Opedal thanked the employees for their efforts on the Norwegian continental shelf.

The CEO says they have increased preparedness and implemented safety plans.
