The Police of Canada said on Sunday (12.18.2022) that at least five people were killed when a gun-toting individual shot inside an apartment building in the city of Vaughan, about 40 kilometers north of Toronto.
The source said the alleged perpetrator of the multiple homicide died in a clash with the security forces.
York Regional Police spokeswoman Laura Nicolle said officers were visiting the apartment building to determine the exact number of victims “and to make sure that if anyone has been injured, they can receive medical attention”.
Nicolle added that at least five people have died, but that the final number could rise to seven.
The spokeswoman added that after the arrival of the police officers there was an “interaction” with the suspect, who died shortly after. Police still don’t know if all the victims are related or the motives for the multiple homicides.
