In the evening, shots were fired in the popular Cologne district of Ehrenfeld, two men were so seriously injured that they had to be treated in the intensive care unit. A murder squad has started work.
Two men were injured by gunfire in Cologne this evening. The police were called because of a fight and found the seriously injured men on site, said a police spokesman. They would be treated in intensive care in a hospital. The identity of the men who were on the road when the police arrived has not yet been determined, according to a joint statement from the police and public prosecutor’s office.
A murder squad has started work. The affected area on Venloer Straße in the Cologne district of Ehrenfeld was cordoned off by the police at the level of the district town hall. “We are on site with emergency services and are clarifying the situation,” the officials initially announced on the X platform. The area should be avoided on a large scale.
As reported by WDR, among others, several people fled when the police arrived. Further details would not be announced until Friday at the earliest, the public prosecutor’s office and police said.
