Four people have been injured in a shooting in Brussels, according to the police. Sweden’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs says a Swedish woman in her 30s is among the injured.
– It is one of our employees, but right now I don’t want to say more about it, says Swedish EU parliamentarian Jörgen Warborn.
The Swedish EU politician Tomas Tobé also says that one of their employees is among the victims.
– Terrible. The person in question is receiving treatment right now, the condition is not considered critical, Tobé signs X/Twitter. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it is a woman in her 30s and that her next of kin have been informed.
Belgian police tell the newspaper Le Soir that there is no question of an act of terrorism.
The shots were fired in a busy shopping street in the city centre, close to the popular Le Hotel. The police believe that the shooting incident is gang-related, which mayor Christos Doulkeridis also claims, according to the report The Brussels Times.
The condition of one of the wounded is critical. The perpetrators had left the scene when the police arrived at 7.30pm.
In October, two Swedes were killed in a shooting attack in Brussels. Another Swede was wounded.
