Bangkok shopping mall shooting, Hu Huichong witnessed it locally
A shooting occurred at Siam Paragon, a famous shopping mall in Siam, a prosperous area of Bangkok, today (3rd), and a 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of being involved in the case. A large number of people hurriedly fled for their lives when the incident occurred. Hu Huichong, a travel expert who immigrated to Thailand and is known as the “Thailand Hand”, happened to be in the mall at the time and witnessed the incident. He told “Yahoo News” that he suddenly saw the security guard instructing everyone to leave, and the atmosphere I was so nervous that I even witnessed a store employee hugging each other and crying after escaping from the mall. According to the Bangkok Post, the incident occurred at about 4:20 pm today, and witnesses said they heard at least 10 gunshots. A video uploaded by Hu Huichong on YouTube showed that he was in the mall at about 4:30. He saw people in the mall hurriedly running away, and the shops were closed. “It seemed like someone was shooting, and everyone was running away.”
Hu Huichong said that he was filming in the mall at the time, and when the incident occurred, “the mall suddenly became silent.” Out of curiosity, he looked down from the 4th floor of the mall. When he reached the 2nd floor a few minutes later, he met the mall security guard. He looked nervous and called him “quick quick! follow me follow me!”, and then he followed the instructions and ran quickly underground through the back stairs. He saw someone leaving slippers on the ground, and he suspected that someone left them behind when they fled the scene in a hurry.
After leaving the mall, Hu Huichong pointed out that there were many security guards outside the mall and the atmosphere was quite tense. When he left the mall, he saw a store closed and some employees and tourists were trying to take shelter in the store. Later, when some store employees left the mall safely, he couldn’t help hugging each other and crying.
He pointed out that security in Thailand has never been bad, but a shooting occurred in a shopping mall in a prosperous area, so he was shocked and “I don’t think there is any explanation for this.” He said that he later read reports online and saw that the arrested person was very young and did not look ferocious. He may have been emotionally disturbed. He believed that this was just an isolated incident and would not affect his confidence in living in the local area.
