Shooting in the streets of Mortensrud

The electric car had driven past on Lofsrudveien for the fifth time in a few hours, when a 21-year-old man lifted a pistol with a straight arm. The Easter silence at Mortensrud this year was interrupted by a sharp bang, when he fired a shot in the direction of the car.

The man is one of two people who on Friday were sentenced to six and a half years in prison for attempted murder.

Prosecutor Tonje Tønder dropped the claim for eight years in prison for the shooters, but the judge thought there was doubt whether the young people would intimidate or kill.

– In that situation, it went out for me. I was driven by adrenaline and shot over the roof to scare, said the 21-year-old, when the case went to Oslo District Court.

Threat rumors

A star-shaped hole on the left side of the windshield of the electric car, showed where one of the bullets had hit, before drilling into the dashboard and hitting the door frame on the driver’s side.

– I thought I was hit. For me, this came completely out of the blue. I did not have anything unresolved with anyone, explained the 35-year-old who drove the car. The man is well known by the Oslo police and has been convicted several times.

It was almost two o’clock on Good Friday at Easter when the incident took place. A rumor of death threats had spread among the young people who stayed around Lofsrud school: the man behind the wheel of the electric car was to kill one or more of the people who stayed in the area.

– I would never kill him, said the 21-year-old.

The man’s defender believes that it is up to the verdict to be appealed.

– We disagree with the assessment of evidence against intent. An attempt was made to scare the 35-year-old away from the area. Then it is not an attempted murder, says the 21-year-old’s defender, Bjørn Aksel Henriksen.

Scare

Seconds after the first shot was fired, a second convicted man fired a shot at the car.

Footage from the surveillance camera clearly showed that at least two shots were fired at the car and who fired the shots. Both admitted in court that they had fired the shots.

Ole Petter Drevland defended the second attempted murder convict, also a 21-year-old man. He is also considering appealing the verdict to the Court of Appeal.

– We disagree with the intent assessment. He believes he shot to scare, says Drevland.

Prosecutor and public prosecutor Tonje Tønder believes that the court has largely assessed the evidence in the same way as the prosecuting authority, but:

– The court has not followed my claim to the full, Tonje Tønder.

– The court has taken somewhat lower than my claim about the sentencing and has probably not considered that this attempted murder was a planned act, says Tønder

Serious threats

A total of four people were sitting on the bench when the case went to the corona-empty hall in Oslo District Court.

Two of them were charged with complicity in attempted murder, but were eventually convicted of serious threats. The penalty here is significantly lower.

The eldest of the two, a 19-year-old man, received a prison sentence of one year and 8 months.

– He is happy to be believed that he did not participate in attempted murder, says Stian Mæland. The 19-year-old’s lawyer.

Mæland says that they will carefully review the verdict before the appeal issue is decided.

The youngest, an 18-year-old man, was given one year and six months, but was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment if he did not do anything criminal in the next two years.

– The hope was a complete acquittal, but the verdict is noted. He will not appeal, says Marijana Lozic, who is holding the young man.

– He says it feels good to be done with this case anyway, says Lozic, to Dagbladet.

The prosecuting authority has the opportunity to appeal both the sentencing and the question of guilt.

– We will consider whether we accept the verdict, but we can not say anything about that today, the public prosecutor says.
