The Ministry of Health of Ukraine calls on the World Health Organization (WHO) to stop cooperation with Russia. About this in a statement published on Facebook departments, said the relevant minister Victor Lyashko.
Russia launched terrorist actions on the territory of Ukraine against the civilian population and doctors, the appeal says. The Russian occupiers, violating the norms of international law, are shelling hospitals, emergency medical vehicles, orphanages and civilians.
“Daily, under shelling, doctors fight for the lives of their patients, including children. Every day they mentally beg that an enemy shell does not fly into the operating room,” the Ministry of Health reminds. “And every day … medical workers die.”
The execution of doctors is a crime against humanity, reminds Lyashko: “Therefore, the Ministry of Health calls on WHO to stop any cooperation and exchange of information with the Russian Federation.”
Ukraine also calls on other UN agencies involved in humanitarian affairs to move their regional offices from Moscow.
- On February 26, due to artillery shelling by Russian invaders in the center of Kyiv, a child died in the children’s hospital Okhmatdyt. Two more children and two adults were wounded.
- On February 24, in Vuhledar, Donetsk region, a local hospital came under fire, killing four people and injuring about 10 more.
- Russian shelling of Ukrainian hospitals violates the Geneva Convention, Lyashko said earlier.
