Starting Saturday, November 5th, anyone over 12 years of age can get a repeat vaccination against corona at the GGD Hollands Midden vaccination site in Leiden without an appointment. This has been possible since 31 October at the GGD injection sites in Gouda and Alphen aan den Rijn. GGD Hollands Midden started the injections without an appointment to give as many people as possible the opportunity to get the repeat injection as easily as possible.
You can get a rep after completing the basic set. Even if you have already had a repeat injection, you can now do it again. This has been possible for three months after the last jab or corona infection. Bring valid ID with you to the injection site and check the current opening hours before departure at www.ggdhm.nl/coronavaccinatie. There you will also find more information on the basic series and repeat injection.
The basic series includes: 2 vaccinations with an mRNA vaccine (such as Moderna and BioNTech / Pfizer) or AstraZeneca, 1 vaccination with the Janssen vaccine or 1 vaccination if you already had the corona before the first injection. You can receive the booster injection 3 months after the last vaccination or coronary infection.

Security enhancement
For repeat shooting, new mRNA vaccines are used that protect against multiple variants of the coronavirus, including the omikron variant. Repeated shooting gives a boost to the immune system and thus restores protection against the coronavirus. This is especially important for people over 60 and other people who receive an annual flu shot invitation. They are at a greater risk of becoming severely ill with corona because their immune systems are functioning less well. A repeated shot is also recommended for healthcare professionals; to protect themselves and the vulnerable people they care for.
A repeat shot is also useful for those who do not belong to these groups. Repeated shooting reduces the chance of infecting others and long-term ailments after a corona infection. Plus, the more people get the repeat shot, the fewer people get sick. This prevents healthcare from becoming too busy and helps keep society open.
