One person was killed and three others injured after a gunman opened fire in the parking lot of a Trader Joe’s in Los Angeles on Saturday, according to local authorities.
Police responded to a shooting at a busy West Hills shopping center near Fallbrook Avenue and Vanowen Street around 3:45 p.m., police said.
Four people were shot in total, the Los Angeles Fire Department told Fox 11.
A 45-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three other victims – two 35-year-old women and a 45-year-old man – were taken to area hospitals in serious condition, officials said.
The LAPD said the suspected shooter has been taken into custody.
He has not yet been identified.
The shooter “may be known to the victims,” LAPD Officer J. Chaves told the City News Service.
It was unclear if the shooting was gang-related.

Businesses cordoned off near the scene include a Trader Joe’s, a Chili’s restaurant and a Bob’s Discount Furniture store, according to local reports.
