Action shooting killed one man in Dogiyai District, Central Papua, triggering riots. The crowd reportedly set fire to a number of kiosks in the Mapia area.
“It’s true that after a resident was shot, a number of kiosks were set on fire,” said Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, when reported by Antara. detikSulselSunday (21/1/2023).
Benny said members of the Dogiyai Police had visited the burning site. The police are trying to win over the masses and also investigate the arsonists.
Meanwhile, Dogiyai Police Chief Commissioner Samuel D Tatiratu said the shooting incident also caused a truck driver to be stabbed. The victim suffered an injury under the armpit. “The young man immediately abused the driver. He was stabbed,” said Kompol Samuel.
Samuel said the truck driver who was stabbed was successfully evacuated from the scene. In addition, another person was hit by an arrow in his right hand.
“There is an additional victim who was hit by an arrow in his right hand, meanwhile,” he said.
